The Cannes Film Festival is an international film festival that takes place every year in Cannes for twelve days during the second half of May. The main screenings take place at the Palais des Festivals located at the entrance of the Promenade de la Croisette.
Every year since 1946 it is the excitement on the Croisette in Cannes: the biggest stars of the film world meet on the French Riviera for one of the most famous festivals in the world. It is considered today as the most prestigious cinematographic gathering and the most publicized cultural event in the world.
The Festival's objective is to reveal and highlight quality works to serve the evolution of cinema, to promote the development of the film industry worldwide and to celebrate the 7th art internationally. Today, this profession of faith is still the first article of the Festival's rules.
This year for the 76th edition of the festival Ruben Östlund will be the president of the Jury.
Unfortunately for the public, the Festival is reserved for professionals and journalists. It is necessary to obtain an accreditation to attend. But the public always enjoys being in the front row at the traditional ascent of the steps of the teams of the films in competition. This is where you can catch a glimpse of the world's biggest stars, just a few steps from the Promenade de la Croisette and the seafront. Crowds flock there every day to see their favorite stars, all dressed up: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard, Sophie Marceau, Eva Longoria, Bill Murray, Chloë Sévigny, Laetitia Casta, Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Diane Kruger, Javier Bardem... All have passed through the steps of Cannes during the festival.

The films in competition are screened at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, in the Louis Lumière Auditorium. Special screenings (such as Cannes Classics) and out-of-competition films are also offered to the public and guests.
At the end of the Festival several prestigious prizes are awarded such as: the Golden Palm, the Jury Prize, the Director's Prize, the Screenplay Prize and many others...
