From February 11 to 26, 2023, Menton
The city of Menton, located in the department of Alpes-Maritimes, is known for its lemon production and the festival dedicated to it. After three years of changes and cancellations due to the pandemic COVID-19, the city revives the traditions by organizing the 89th edition of the Lemon Festival. The event, which runs until February 26, has the theme of rock music, and the floats do not fail to respect the playlist with references to icons such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Hallyday, Jean-Louis Aubert and Kiss.
Visitors will be able to admire the parade of 10 floats, accompanied by numerous troupes of dancers and acrobats, from the stands or at the roadside. The extravagant make-up and costumes worn by the artists impress the public. Lemons and oranges, for a total quantity of more than a hundred tons, adorn the floats and gardens of the city every year. The fruit is then sold to the public.
Although the access to the parade is paying (between 16 and 29 euros), the access to the Biovès gardens is free. They will find a dozen stands of producers and associations of Menton who offer local products throughout the day. Visitors will be able to taste a cocktail specially prepared for the occasion by the starred chef Maura Colagreco.

Thursday, February 16, a night parade is scheduled from 21h in the streets of Menton, followed by entertainment. Mayor Yves Juhel asked the SNCF to run trains from the station of Menton later than usual on Thursday, but the request was not accepted. Substitution buses are however planned at 23:00, 23:15 and 00:45 from the park of the Madonna and to the port of Nice.
